They provide information on the quantities and rates of LAC waste arising, sent for preparing for reuse, for dry recycling, composting, energy recovery and sent to landfill.
What are local authority collected municipal waste management statistics?
Local authority collected municipal waste data relate to all waste under the control or possession of a council. The purpose of these statistics is to report on the key measurements of LAC municipal waste for councils and waste management groups in Northern Ireland.
The quarterly publications are released in October, January, April and July each year. They report provisional figures on the key measurements of LAC municipal waste for councils and waste management groups in Northern Ireland.
The annual reports are released in late November / early December each year. They provide final validated information which is used to assess progress towards achieving LAC municipal waste targets. As targets are set for an annual period, care should be taken when comparing quarterly figures against targets.
2011/12
Note: From the October to December 2011 release, the publication was renamed to reflect that it reports on local authority collected municipal waste only.
