The County of Orange provides four Household Hazardous Waste Collection centers for residents to drop-off household hazardous waste for FREE. Household hazardous waste which can be dropped-off includes cleaning, lawn and garden, and automotive products, painting supplies, pesticides, flammable products, e-waste and even sharps (in a puncture-proof container). The closest location for Yorba Linda residents is the Anaheim Collection Center, 1071 N. Blue Gum Street, Anaheim, CA 92806. Through landmark initiatives like the Integrated Waste Management Act and Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, California works toward a society that uses less, recycles more, and takes resource conservation to higher and higher levels. Our state leads the nation with an approximate 65 percent diversion rate for all materials, and today recycling supports more than 140, 000 green jobs in California.
The City of Yorba Linda and Republic Services strive to meet and exceed the goals set forth by CalRecycle through a joint effort of disseminating public information, providing a wide-range of services and implementing the latest technological advances for recycling. Currently, the City and Republic are working towards compliance with AB 341, in which the Governor and the Legislature established a policy goal for the state that not less than 75 percent of solid waste generated be source reduced, recycled, or composted by the year 2020.
requires businesses to recycle their organic waste on and after April 1, 2016, depending on the amount of waste they generate per week. Currently, businesses that generate 8 cubic yards of organic waste per week shall arrange for organic waste recycling services. Below are the implementation dates and thresholds for businesses.
- Local jurisdictions shall have an organic waste recycling program in place. Jurisdictions shall conduct outreach and education to inform businesses how to recycle organic waste in the jurisdiction, as well as monitoring to identify those not recycling and to notify them of the law and how to comply.
- Businesses that generate 8 cubic yards of organic waste per week shall arrange for organic waste recycling services.
- Businesses that generate 4 cubic yards of organic waste per week shall arrange for organic waste recycling services.
- Jurisdictions shall provide information about their organic waste recycling program implementation in the annual report submitted to CalRecycle.
- Fall 2018: After receipt of the 2016 annual reports submitted on August 1, 2017, CalRecycle shall conduct its formal review of those jurisdictions that are on a two-year review cycle.
- Businesses that generate 4 cubic yards or more of commercial solid waste per week shall arrange for organic waste recycling services.
- Fall 2020: After receipt of the 2019 annual reports submitted on August 1, 2020, CalRecycle shall conduct its formal review of all jurisdictions.
